Starry Starry card

One of the new additions to our catalog was the large star punch.  For some reason it seems especially suited to baby cards as shown in this sample:


Materials: Short and Sweet
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla
Ink: Bashful Blue
Accessories: Large Star punch, Double circle punch, Word Window punch, Wild Wasabi Stitched Ribbon

This was a fairly simple card that you could easily change up to suit a baby girl.  You can also use the large star punch with the smaller star punch for a beautiful layered look.

Glitter, glitter, everywhere!

Today's sample features our new sticky cut letters and cosmo glitter.  Now many of you know just how much I love glitter (NOT!), but I just couldn't resist playing with these fun new products.  This card is one that my stamp club made this past month.

Materials: Sweet Shapes
Cardstock: Lavender Lace, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Lavender Lace
Accessories: Sticky Cut letters, Cosmo Fine Glitter, Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon, Embossing buddy

This scan doesn't even do justice to just how beautiful this card came out.  The full coverage of glitter is just spectacular.  I will admit that the Sticky Cut letters can be a little fiddly.  They are basically the same product as our sticky strip which is extremely sticky.  I can take a little effort to get the backing off the letter without pulling off the tape too.  I also found that it was helpful to rub the white cardstock with the embossing buddy to cut down on the static and to make it easier to shake off the excess glitter. But the finished results are definitely worth the effort!

Celebrate Spring

I hope you all had a happy Easter!  At least the winds have died down some and hopefully spring is truly around the corner!  In the meantime, here is a sample that will get you thinking of warmer days.

This fun butterfly is a part of our new set Just Celebrate which can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The images in this set will have you ready to make a card for nearly any occasion, and the artwork has large spaces that you can quickly and easily color.  The hardware is from our new Styled Silver Hodgepodge hardware kit, also found in the Occasions Mini catalog.  This fun new hardware kit has book plates designed to fit and match our punches and lots of brads that are etched with fun designs sure to give your cards a quick visual punch!

Flowers, flowers, everywhere....

Ok....maybe not everywhere, but we can dream!  This card features the new felt flower fusion.  Flower Fusion is fast easy, but can really spice up a card in a hurry.


Materials: Pretty Amazing
Cardstock: Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Flower Fusion, Old Olive 5/8" grosgrain, Earth elements brads, Vintage brads, rub ons

You get three different colors of flowers in the tin, and they are super easy to mix and match.  They have a prepunched hole in the center of each flower, making it a snap to add a brad in the middle as an accent.  Just as a note, the words on this card were using the Sale-a-bration rub ons, but you could easily substitute either a word stamp or words from a current package of rubons.

Friend Scrapbook pages

A little diversion today into the world of scrapbooking.  I know, I know..I don't usually go there!  These were the pages that we made at my scrapbooking club night last month.

Cardstock: Real Red, Lovely Lilac, River Rock, Wild Wasabi; River Rock and Soft Sky DSP

Accessories: On Board Blossoms and Basics, Build a Brad, Build a Flower, Scallop circle punch, Photo Corners Punch, Chocolate Chip marker, Linen Thread

These pages are jammed packed with a variety of accessories that pack a lot of visual punch!  The stems for the flowers were made by tracing the edge of a paper plate onto the cardstock and then cutting it out and trimming to size.  The flowers are from the Build a Flower Accents and Elements tin.

Merci!

Sale-a-bration is winding down, but you still have a few more days to take advantage of this limited time special.  Here is a fun sample that will help get you thinking of spring!



Materials: Merci, Curvy Verses
Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Whisper White
Ink: Sage Shadow, Bashful Blue, Apricot Appeal, Basic Black
Accessories: 1" Circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, Sponge Daubers, Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon, Slit punch, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

This card was really quite fun to make and employs an ingenious technique for a super easy background.  Out of scrap paper, I punched several different size circles, creating a template that I could sponge through.  I laid the template on the card and sponged different colors through the different size circles to create a random background.  Then I stamped the images in black over it and added a little color with coordinating markers.  Quick, easy, and oh, so cute!

Friendship Blooms

Here is another fun card that is bright and cheerful.  This is one that we made at my recent stamp a stack class.  I just like to look at it during some of these gray days!


Materials:  Friendship Blooms
Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green, Whisper White; Real Red Textured cardstock
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore
Accessories: Tempting Turquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Silver Brads, 1/16" circle punch, Crystal Effects, Red Bead Duos, Stampin' Dimensionals

On this card, I've attached the micro beads to the center of the flower using crystal effects.  It is an easy way to attach them, but you will want to make sure that you let it dry for 20-30 minutes.

Tool Time

Masculine birthday cards can be rather difficult at times.  We have a fantastic new set in our Occasions Mini Catalog that makes fabulous men cards.  It is called For Father, but the images are by no means limited to just cards for your dad.  Here is a card I stamped for my Brother-in-laws birthday.  I loved it so much that I decided to stamp another one as a sample.  Of course, then I liked the first one better....guess which one my brother-in-law got?  Sorry, Dave!


Materials: For Father, Fundamental Phrases
Cardstock: Garden Green, Cream Caramel, Ruby Red, Shimmery White
Ink: Basic Gray; Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Really Rust Craft spots
Accessories: 1/16" circle punch, Vintage Brads, Aquapainters, Twill Tape

Don't you just love that wood grain paper?  Wouldn't you love to add that to your cards?  But, where is it in the catalog?  Well, it isn't....exactly.   I started with a piece of Creamy Caramel cardstock.  Then I took my craft ink spots and I lightly dragged them down the cardstock to create streaks of color.  I used the Chocolate Chip first, and then added More Mustard and Really Rust to add some different tones.

Try it and show me what you can do with that technique!

Spring Scallops

Is anybody else ready to wave the white flag and in surrender of winter?  Let's keep thinking happy, spring thoughts!  This Sale-a-bration card should lift your winter spirits:

This is a fun card that I did with my upline last month.  The little flower in the center comes from the three flower stamp in Friendship Blooms.  It is the middle flower, and when you punch it with the 1/2" circle punch, all you get is the flower with a few little lines sticking out creating a bit of a starburst....completely different from the original image.  Clever isn't it?

Birthday Whimsy

Probably one of the most used type of card is the birthday card.  Stampin' Up has lots of great birthday stamp sets, but the Sale-a-bration set is probably one of my favorite.  It is a very versatile set that can be used for birthday cards for anybody!

You can't see it very well, but I put glitter on some of the swirls in the middle of the cake.  It is just enough to add a little glitz to this card!
