Saturday morning, two very dear friends of ours got married. It was a second marriage for both of them and was a beautiful, yet tasteful, wedding. I had purchased a small gift as well as a gift card for them, and all week, I had in my head exactly how I wanted the packaging to look. Of course, I work best under pressure (or so I tell myself), so I began the process at 9:15 Saturday morning. I needed to leave the house at 10:30 for the 11:00 wedding.
Yep...why do I do this to myself?
First I created the card. Here is how it came out:
Materials: Thoughts and Prayers, Kind and Caring Thoughts, Brushed Silver cardstock, Basic Gray cardstock, Shimmery White cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Basic Gray ink, Versamark pad, White Organza Ribbon, Clear Rhinestone brads, White embossing powder, Wide Oval punch, Corner Rounder, Perfect Details Texture Plate
Not too bad. I wasn't completely pleased with it, but beggars can't be choosers and I was running out of time! You can't see it real well, but for the background I used the Perfect Details Texture Plate on Shimmery white cardstock. I love the Shimmery White cardstock for wedding cards. It adds a lovely sense of elegance.
So, the card was done and it was about 10:00. I had 30 minutes to work up the box. Fortunately, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Again, I don't know how well you can see this. White doesn't photograph well, and, if you keep reading, you'll see that I had exactly 10 seconds to take this picture.
I took two more pieces of Shimmery White cardstock and I embossed the same flower that I used on the card in white all over. Then I scored it 1 1/2" in all around to make the sides of the box. The Brushed Silver cardstock made a belly and around and I added a flower and hat pin from the Pretties Kit on top of my ribbon.
It looks so simple and elegant, and, yet, when I see it, I can still feel the stress as the clock was ticking. I don't think I've ever created so fast in my life! As each step was completed and I checked the time, I started working faster and faster. At 10:30, I told Michael that he would have to go drop the kids off at my brother's and come back for me. At 10:35, I finally finished the box and snapped a quick picture. I ran upstairs to change and at 10:45 we were out the door, and at 10:59, we walked into the church. Fortunately, for us, they ran almost ten minutes late!
Here's a picture of my desk when I ran out of my office:
See that postage size space on the left. Yeah...that was my working space. Note the embossing powder all over the desk in the middle of the picture and the brads scattered about towards the bottom. You can't see it, but the stamp is still sticky with Versamark. It didn't get cleaned up until later that night!
Again, why do I do this to myself?
Happy Stamping!
