Autumn Harvest Birthday card

Yesterday was my sister's birthday, so I sat down last night to make her a card.  I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, so the final card came together quite quickly.

Stamps: Autumn Harvest, Upsy Daisy

Card Stock: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Dusty Durango

Ink: Dusty Durango classic and Chocolate Chip craft

Accessories: Clear embossing powder, Crushed Curry ribbon, 1/2" Library clips, Stampin' Dimensionals, watercolor brush, bleach

I had in my mind the vision of a pumpkin colored with bleach.  I first embossed the pumpkin using Chocolate Chip craft ink and clear embossing powder.  I poured some bleach in a cup and watercolored it with a paint brush.  I had originally planned on watercoloring the pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie ink once the bleach dried, but I decided that I rather liked the color of the paper as it was.  It actually complements the Crushed Curry rather well.  

You of course want to be careful when you work with bleach so you don't splash it where you don't want it.  It is, however, quite fun, because you never know exactly what color you will get when the paper is bleached.  It is all determined on the hues that are used to dye the card stock in the first place.  You can end up with some pretty interesting and unexpected results!

Snowflake Christmas

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this week and soon the holidays will be in full swing?  The year has gone so fast, and so has the last week or so.  My week got away from me last week and I never got a chance to post a card for you.  Sorry about that! How about if I give you two samples today to make up for it.

This first card was from the Christmas in July class I did last summer:

 

Materials: Simple Snowflakes, Sincere Salutations

Cardstock: Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and Whisper White

Ink: Night of Navy classic and Whisper White craft

Accessories: 1/16" circle punch, Clear rhinestone brads, Wide Oval punch, Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, stamping sponge, Big Shot and Top Note die

The blue square was created using the Top note die.  You run the card stock through once to create the rectangle.  Then you turn it 90 degrees and center it on the die.  When you run it through again, you get this lovely scalloped square.

Here is your next sample.  It was one that we did at my stamp a stack in September:

Materials: Serene Snowflakes, Four the Holidays

Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White and White vellum paper

Ink: Night of Navy, Versamark

Accessories: White organza ribbon, Scallop edge punch, Silver embossing powder, Frost White shimmer paint, mini glue dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

You can't see it in the scan, but we had stamped with the shimmer paint on the vellum and it is really pretty in person.  Trust me!

November Scrapbook Club sample

It is that time again!  The November scrapbooking club meets on Monday night and I wanted to show you the sample of the pages we will be making in case you wanted to bring pictures to add to it.

I think the pages came out quite cute, and I'm loving the arrangement of paper on the page.

November Stamp a Stack sample

My final Christmas stamp a stack for this season is coming up on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00pm.  As always, we will be making fifteen cards, 3 each of 5 designs.  The class fee is $30 with $15 going towards an order placed that evening and must be prepaid by November 13.  After November 13, the class fee increases to $35.

Here are a couple of samples to whet your appetite!

I love how elegant this card looks.  I don't always think to emboss in clear powder on my cards, but it makes for a really nice understated background.  

Here's another sample:

On this sample, I wanted to create a card that used some nontraditional Christmas colors.  This card features Bermuda Bay, and is just the right icy blue to go with this happy penguin!
