The card I'm about to show you was the card that we made in my stamp club this month for our technique card. It was such a great card and so popular that I decided to post it.
Materials: Elements of Style, Mosaic stamp
Cardstock: Barely Banan, Cameo Coral, Basic Gray and Whisper White
Ink: Black Stazon, Cameo Coral classic pad, Basic Gray classic pad, and Cameo Coral, Brocade Blue, Barely Banana and Sage Shadow markers
Accessories: Designer Label punch, 1" circle punch, Clear embossing powder, White organza ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, and stamping sponge
The technique we used was called Stained Mosaic, and I used this stamp to create it:
Now, you are probably wondering where in the catalog this stamp is? Well....it's not! I made this stamp using the clear block size "E" and rubber scraps from a traditional wood mounted stamp set. Cut your rubber scraps into small geometric shapes and then attach them to the clear block. The trick is to get them nice and close together. If they are too far apart, you will lose the look of your image. Again, I used block E. I wouldn't go any smaller that that, and I might actually consider going up to block F which would cover an entire card.
To actually create the card, here are the step you take. First stamp your desired image in Black Stazon and color in with markers. I used the stazon, because the first time I stamped the card in regular basic black, and it smeared a little. After you have colored in your image, ink your mosaic stamp in Versamark and stamp over the colored image. Emboss the image with clear embossing powder. Now, the magic begins! Use a sponge and rub your desired "grout" color in. You could really use any color, but I've been using Basic Gray. The ink will only stick to the paper in between the squares and not on the embossing itself. Use a tissue to wipe any excess ink of the embossing when you are done!
Again, this was one of the cards we made in my stamp club this month. I am currently taking sign ups for the next round of clubs. They will begin in August and run through June, with the month of December off. My card clubs meet the first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month (you pick on of the two nights) and we create two full cards, plus the technique card which can be put in an album along with the instructions. I also run a scrapbooking club that meets on the Third Monday of the month. In that club, we make a 2 page 12x12 layout as well as one of the card from the card club. For either club, you agree to make a minimum purchase of $15 each month for the ten months, and then, one of those months, you get hostess benefits.
Happy Stamping!
