Stamping with Michelle

Framed Artwork

My brother is getting married next month, and this past weekend we had the shower for my new sister-in-law.  I've got several things that I want to share with you that center around that event.  The first, and my favorite, is a piece of framed art that I made for them.

There was a piece like this featured on the cover of the monthly magazine that I get from Stampin' Up last month, and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to recreate it for my brother.  I am so very pleased with how this turned out.  I found the shadow box at our local big box store and I got some handmade paper to line the back from a local craft store.  Everything else is Stampin' Up products.

I spent a whole afternoon putting this together and I had a lot of fun.  It wasn't a particularly hard project, it just took me a while to figure out how I wanted each tag to look.  I didn't have an alphabet set small enough for the words I wanted so I used My Digital Studio.   I used one of the alphabet stamp sets, changed the color to the color I wanted and then reduced the size.  Once I was satisfied, I printed it out and then I attached scrap pieces over what I had printed on regular paper.  I then ran it back through the printer and it printed on the cardstock. I wanted the wedding date printed right on the tag, but I punched the name out with the small jewelry tag punch.

My brother and his fiancee loved the project and I am very proud of how it came out!

I'd encourage you to create your own one of a kind framed artwork.  It is a lot of fun, and, when you are done, you'll have something you can treasure forever!

Open House cards

I hope you have all been enjoying your summer. I sure have.  This is my kind of summer!  Since you've all been so patient with my lack of posting, I've got two samples that I'll share with you today.  These are both cards that we did at my open house last weekend.

Materials: Party This Way

Cardstock: Pacific Point, Real Red, Pear Pizzazz and Celebrations DSP

Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point and Pear Pizzazz

Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Scallop Rectangle Clearlit and Stampin' Dimensionals

This first card focuses on products and colors that can be found in the Birthday Bash Suite.  The Birthday Bash Suite is a collection of products designed to help you throw a fun and festive birthday party.  From party hats to decorations, you'll have everything you need to create invitations for your guests and then decorations to set the stage when they get there.  Pacific Point is one of the returning in colors that has been added to our core collection and Pear Pizzazz is one of this year's In Colors.

This second card is a little softer and more elegant:

Materials: Just Believe

Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, and Blushing Bride

Ink: Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso and Blushing Bride

Accessories: Basic Pearls, 1 3/8" Circle punch, Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta ribbon

This one mostly focuses on new colors.   Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso our new additions to our core collection and Blushing Bride is another of this year's In Colors.  The basic pearls are another new addition to this year's catalog.  They come in a sheet of 150 pearls in three different sizes and you just need peel of and stick them to your project.  You can also purchase them as clear rhinestones and they are super fun.  They are also a great buy at only $4.95 each.

This is only a sampling of the new products in this year's catalog.  I honestly think that this is one of the best catalogs that I've seen in quite a few years.  I still have dates available if you'd like to schedule a workshop so you can see what is new!

Vintage butterflies

I hope you all have been managing to beat the heat this week! I wanted to share a card that I did up for a workshop I had last night.  I got the inspiration from a demo friend of mine and then I tweaked it a little to suit my purposes!

Stamps: Watercolor Trio

Cardstock: Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla

Ink: Marina Mist and Versamark

Accessories: Clear embossing powder, sponge dauber, Big Shot and Beautiful Butterfiles die and Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Very Vanilla Satin ribbon, Marina Mist 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Large Oval punch, Scallop Oval punch, clear rhinestone brads, Stampin' Dimensionals

Isn't it pretty?  To create the butterfly, I first stamped and embossed on a square of very vanilla cardstock with clear embossing powder.  Then I ran it through the big shot cut the butterfly shape.  Finally, I went over it with a sponge dauber and Marina Mist ink to add in the color.  The embossing resists the ink, giving it a fabulous vintage look.

I also really, really like those embossing folders.  They are so quick and easy and give a fabulous, deep impression.  I honestly don't know what I would do without my Big Shot.  I use it *all*the*time!  Did you know that if you host an average size workshop, you can get the Big shot for nearly half price?  I've still got dates available, and I'd be happy to show you this card in person!

It's here!

The new catalog is finally here, and I am soooo excited!  I was very ready for a color change and I can't wait to share the fun new colors with you.  To whet your appetite, here is a sample I did using a new hostess set and some of the new colors:

Isn't this just a classy card?  This is actually going to be one of my make and takes for the month of July.  I am offering a free stamp set to the first eight people who contact me and book a workshop for July or August.  There are so many cool new things, I'm sure you're not going to want to miss it!

Oh, and how do you like the new blog design?  I created the blog header ALL BY MYSELF using the My Digital Studio software.  Yes, I am wee bit proud of myself.  I am too stinkin' stoked about how good it came out!
