Vintage Wedding Card

This past Saturday my brother got married.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we had a fabulous time.  I thought I'd show you the wedding card that I made for him:

Materials: French Foliage and Occasional Quotes

Cardstock: Soft Suede, Blushing Bride and Very Vanilla

Ink: Soft Suede

Accessories: Distressing Essentials Kit, Chantilly crochet trim, Basic Pearls, and Extra Large Decorative Label punch

This design is a far cry from my normal MO in card design, but I wanted to play with the new distressing kit and I thought the wedding card I needed would be a good place to start.  I started by crumpling the vanilla cardstock to give it some nice wrinkles.  Then I rubbed a couple of the inks that are in the kit over it to add that antique look.  The pearls and lace help to tie the whole look together.

The astute among you might notice that there are a couple of elements that you've never seen before!  I don't often give sneak peeks, but these are products that will be in the new Holiday mini catalog available on September 1.  The script image and the splotch image are from a set called French Foliage and the punch is a new design as well.  I guarantee you won't want to miss the products available in this new mini catalog. It is a humdinger!  Call me now and I can schedule you for a September workshop were we will be playing with some of these fun new products.

Flowers, flowers everywhere

So, I already mentioned that a couple of weeks ago we held a bridal shower for my brother's fiancee.  I was out shopping for supplies with my mother when she tasked me with table decorations.  I actually had an instant idea of what I wanted to put together, and in a couple of hours, my sister, my sister-in-law, Katelyn and I had worked these up:

They were a lot of fun to make and really, really easy.  I used the Island Floral die and my big shot to cut the flowers and the leaves.  They already had the holes in the center, so it was a snap to add brads.  We attached the flowers to the dowels using the large Pop up glue dots (sorry...we don't carry those anymore) and the leaves using the mini glue dots. 

While my mom and I were out, we had stopped by Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought the drinking glasses which my future sister-in-law was able to take home and keep.  They came out really cute, and my future sister-in-law liked them so much that we earlier this week we cranked out 80 more flowers to use for centerpieces at the wedding!

A birthday for Elijah

So my youngest son turned six last Friday.  I can't even believe it has been six years. It feels like just yesterday....

Anyhoo! I thought I'd show you the card that I made for him:

Materials: Party This Way

Cardstock: Pacific Point, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock and Celebrations DSP

Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, Old Olive

Accessories: Modern Label punch, Brights brads, Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain, Scallop Edge punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

It was a quick and easy card, but it did the trick!  I used the masking technique to get the three balloons so close together.  First I stamped the blue balloon in the middle of the cardstock.  Then I stamped it again on a post it note and cut it out.  I laid the post it balloon right on top of the real balloon.  I was then able to stamp the other two balloons and when I took the post it off...presto-bingo!...they were behind the first balloon I stamped.
