September Virtual Stamp Club

I can't believe that today is the last day of August.  This summer has just flown by.  I started back to work last week.  Actually, I started a brand new position.  Many of you might know that I've been working towards my school counseling degree.  I still have another year or so to go in the program, but I do have my conditional certificate, and last week I started as the school counselor at one of my local elementary schools.  It's been an exciting week, but so far so good.

Sometimes, it is just fun to create something in miniature!  In today's Learn to Stamp video, I show you how to make this adorable little treat box.

 

 

 

I first saw this box on Sam Donald's blog, and I thought it was such a cute little box, I just had to create my own.  The scoring dimensions, in case you missed them are at 1 1/2", 4 3/4", 6 1/4" and 9 1/2" along the long side and at 1 1/2" and 4 3/4" along the short side.  In addition to 3x3 cards, this box would be perfect for a small gift, or my personal favorite, dark chocolate!

August Paper Pumpkin Samples

Forever Fern Die Cut Card

Do you remember the card I shared on Monday?  After I had used the fern die cut as a mask, I was left with the die cut itself all sponged.  I had it sitting on my desk for probably over a week before I decided it needed to be put to good use too!  This card also makes use of the Greenery embossing folder which I used on the Soft Suede card stock.  This is a really versatile design, and you could substitute out just about any sentiment. I think it would actually make a really good sympathy card.

This card was one of the first cards I made when I got my preorder back in May.  I had an idea in my head of using the fern die cut as a mask, and I love how it turned out.  I started by die cutting the fern and then I laid it in the center of my card stock and sponged Pear Pizzazz all around it.  I didn't adhere it or anything; I just held it in place.

Learn to Stamp: Watercoloring with Ink Pads

For today's Learn to Stamp video, I am talking about watercoloring with the ink pads.  This is one of my favorite ways to watercolor because it is so easy to match the ink colors with the paper. (Hooray for Stampin' Up!'s color coordination!)

A couple of things to keep in mind when you are watercoloring.  First, I generally start with the lightest color and then work towards the darker.  After you put down the first layer of color, you can go back in and add a darker color for some shading.  As you work, try to think about the direction from which the light is coming, as that will help you determine where you might want to put darker color for shadows.  Finally, when in doubt, start with less and/or lighter colors than you might want.  You can always add more color, but you can't take it away.
