Love of Leaves Fall Card

Materials:

Stamps: Love of Leaves

Ink: Bumblebee, Blackberry Bliss and Cinnamon Cider

Card Stock:

    Bumblebee - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"

    Blackberry Bliss - 5 1/4" x 4" and 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"

    Cinnamon Cider - 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

    Mossy Meadow - 2" x 2"

    Whisper White - 5" x 3"

Accessories: Stitched Leaves Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Bumblebee 1/4" Ribbon, Sponge Daubers and Stampin' Dimensionals

 

When the seasonal catalog first came out, the Love of Leaves set with the accompanying dies was not one that I thought I needed.  Then I started seeing samples with, and dang, don't you know it just fell into my shopping cart!  I love how when you cut a leaf shape, you not only get the leaf, but the negative image has stitching around it, making it a usable component as well.

For this card, I cut the large leaf out of the center of the Cinnamon Cider card stock and set the die cut leaf aside.  I then inked the corresponding image in Bumblebee and used sponge daubers to add a little Cinnamon Cider and Blackberry Bliss.  I stamped it on Whisper White card stock and cut it out.  I popped the Cinnamon Cider layer up with dimensionals and then I adhered the stamped leaf flat to the Blackberry Bliss.  If you attach the Cinnamon Cider layer first, you can place the stamped leaf through the whole and it will line up perfectly.

I don't know the actual name of this fun fold, but I'm calling Peekaboo Fun Fold. A friend of mine taught me how to create this card, and I'm having a lot of fun with it.  It is really quite simple, and yet it packs quite the visual punch. Last week, one of my niece's turned seven.  She is bright and spunky, and I wanted to create a card that was just like her.  I pulled out the So Much Happy stamp set with the coordinating dies and got to work.  I love how this card turned out.  It captures my niece's personality exactly.  One tip: I used the fine tip glue to attach the flags to the card, but if I were to do it again, I would use the adhesive sheets.  It would have been much easier and I wouldn't have had to worry about the glue squishing out from behind the flags.

Hello Pumpkin September Paper Pumpkin Kit

Isn't this Dove just gorgeous?  The Detailed Dove Dies make it a snap to put together and it makes a fantastic focal point for a Christmas card.  I always love making cards that are just silver and white.  I think they are so elegant.  Pro tip: you can cut your label out of the center of the larger piece of silver foil, which makes it feel less like you're wasting the foil by layering it.

Learn to Stamp: Embossing

In today's Learn to Stamp Video, I show you how to do Embossing. 

 

Embossing is a fun and easy technique that instantly takes your card designs to a whole new level.  The biggest tip I can give, is to make sure that you hold the heat tool steady in one spot.  The tendency is to wave it back and forth, but if you do that, you risk ending up with areas that are either over-embossed and look dull and flat, or under embossed and the powder will fall off.  Stay tuned next week when I show you how to create the fun fold for the card on which this embossed dove was put.
