Minute to Make It: Happy Thoughts Congratulations Card

I fell in love with the Love You Always Specialty paper the minute I saw it, and for this card, I wanted to show how it could be used to create a non-Valentine card.  I chose to really make the paper the focal point, but I also incorporated lots of texture with the different embossing folders.  This is a fairly simple card, but beautiful and elegant at the same time.

This is actually a card I stamped way back last spring when I first got my preorder containing the Jar of Flowers Bundle.  I had lots of other new cards to share and then before I knew, it had turned into fall and my focus shifted towards Christmas cards.  Now that Spring is here, it feels like the perfect time to share this card.  I did have to hand cut the flowers, but the you can use the Jar punch to quickly punch out your mason jar vase.  After that, the card comes together quickly and is ready to send cheerful birthday greetings to someone special.

Learn to Stamp: Blended Ombre Background

Materials:

Stamps: Enjoy the Moment and Many Messages

Ink: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Blackberry Bliss, Memento Black

Card stock:

    Whisper White: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2, 5 1/8" x 3 7/8" and 1 1/2" x 2 1/2"

In today's Learn to Stamp video, I'm showing you how to create a blended ombre background using the Blending Brushes:

Ombre is all the rage right now, and it is super easy to create your own backgrounds using nothing more than the Blending Brushes and ink.  Start with a piece of Whisper White card stock and add your colors working lightest to darkest.  I chose to keep this card fairly simple, but you could stamp an allover to background to create a custom background paper.  The sky is the limit!

Michelle's Color Inspiration #1

 

Have you ever sat down to stamp and have a hard time getting started because you just don't know what colors to use?  Yeah, me too.  I thought I would start a new blog series in which I share some of the color combinations that I've been using.  I'll use samples that I've previously posted and talk about the colors I used.

For this inaugural post, I've got this sample I created using A Touch of Ink.  Although you can no longer get the stamp set, I wanted to share it anyway because I really like the pop that the Granny Apple Green brings to the design. The retired list is here!

The long awaited retired list is here!  You can view a PDF of the entire list by clicking here.  There is a lot of information on that list and the type if fairly small.  You can always visit my website here where there is a section just for the retired products.  Some things to keep in mind.  Products that were bundled in the current catalog will no longer be available at the bundle price.  You may see the bundle on the retiring list, but you will want to check the other sections to see if the stamp set is going away entirely.  Many products are available at a discount, and products are available only while supplies last.  The last day to order retiring products is May 3, 2021.

 

There is also a list of products that will be retiring from the January-June catalog.  These products will be available until June 30, and there is currently not discount on any of these products.  You can view that list by clicking here.

It's an unfortunate truth that we can always use sympathy cards.  I try to have a few sympathy cards on hand ready to go so that I can send them at a moment's notice.  There is very little stamping on this card, and, instead, the die cuts take center stage.  I chose to have coordinating colors for my butterflies, but you could certainly do some highly contrasted colors as well.  At that point, you could turn the card into a birthday, congratulations or thinking of you card instead.

March is always a long month, but my heart just warms every time I look at this card.  It makes me think of the warmer days of summer and reminds me that the winter doesn't last forever.  For this card, I stamped the popsicles in three different colors and then cut them out.  The bottom layers of the popsicles were stamped off on scrap paper first so that they would be a bit lighter than the top layer.

Today's fun fold is really quite easy, but is sure to delight!  For this one, I decided to go back into the annual catalog and I pulled out my Whale of a Time bundle with the coordinating Designer Series Paper.  I designed it as a congratulations card, but it would work equally well for a child's birthday.  How fun would it be for the child to pull the belly band off to reveal the what's hidden inside?
