June 2021 Paper Pumpkin: Expressions In Color Alternates

I mentioned last week how much I love this month's Paper Pumpkin kit.  The colors are definitely my colors, and the papers are so much fun to play with.  My samples this week were created using only the supplies that came in the kit, with the exception of a single sheet of Basic White card stock which I cut in half to make two card bases.

Minute to Make It: Enjoy the Moment Card

Materials:

I can't remember where I first saw this layout, but I loved the look of the white being stamped and then cut into varying widths.  This video is a little longer than most of my Minute to Make It videos, but there were several aspects that I wanted to make sure I showed you.  Unfortunately, the Blending Brushes are unorderable until late in July, but you could also use sponge daubers. What stamps would you make this card with?

I know Father's Day was a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to share the card that I made for my father-in-law.  The one thing I wanted to point out is what I did with the sentiment.  I liked the Father's Day part, but the last line in that sentiment is "handsome" and that didn't feel appropriate to put on a card for an eighty-seven year old man, lol.  I used a sticky note to mask out the part I didn't want.  I placed it on the stamp over the image, inked my stamp and then pulled it off before stamping.  It worked perfectly!

Incidentally, while the stamp set and dies have been carried over into the annual catalog, the designer series paper is retiring on Wednesday and has already sold out.

Minute to Make It: Sweet Strawberry Thank You

I finally got a chance to play with my Stitched Greenery Die and, oh my goodness, how I love it!  It creates a beautiful stitched background that is is interesting without being overpowering.  For this card, I paired it with the Sweet Strawberry bundle, and they went together really nicely.

Learn to Stamp: Marbled Alcohol Technique

In today's Learn to Stamp video, I show you how to do the Marbled Alcohol technique

 

If you've been stamping for a long time, you might remember the polished stone technique.  The Marbled Alcohol technique gives results that have a similar look, except this is even easier.  The trick is to make sure you find rubbing alcohol that is at least 90%.  The rubbing alcohol reacts with the Blends which are alcohol markers to create the marbling effect.
