July 2021 Paper Pumpkin: The Adventure Begins Alternates

The cards in the July Paper Pumpkin kit were designed to be tri-fold cards.  They are beautiful, but it did make it a little more challenging to come up with new designs using just the supplies in the kit.  You can't tell by looking at it, but the card with the sentiment "The World Awaits You" was created by cutting off the tri-fold portion with the patterning, trimming it down and then layering it directly behind the window to create a standard fold card.

Today's card gives you a sneak peek at some of the new products that will become available on August 3 when the July-December catalog goes live.  One of my favorites is quickly becoming the Nature's Harvest bundle.  I'm actually thinking of using it for my September tutorial.  The stamp set is a set of seven images with some flowers and several sentiments in a beautiful script font.  The coordinating dies are a set of eight.  There are dies to cut out the flowers and labels for the words, but there are also additional floral dies that make beautiful silhouettes.

In today's Learn to Stamp video, I show you to create a pansy using the new Pansy dies:

 

I was super excited to get the new Pansy Patch bundle and then when it arrived, I found myself just staring at feeling a bit overwhelmed.  It actually sat on my shelf for almost two months before I finally got up the gumption to figure it out.  There are definitely a lot of separate pieces, but now that I know what I'm doing, it isn't nearly as overwhelming.  

Besides knowing how to put it together, I also was stymied by trying to figure out what colors to use.  May I suggest that you turn to the Pansy Petals Designer Series paper for inspiration?  There are all kinds of pansies in that package in a variety of colors and they make a really good starting point.  And, don't forget, the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper is on sale through August 2!

In today's Minute to Make It video, I show you how I created this black and white card featuring the Tasteful Touches set.

 

When I sat down to create this card, I decided I wanted to create a card with a black and white theme.  We always think color when we are making cards, but black and white can be quite striking. This card isn't strictly black and white, but when I decided that I was also going to incorporate color blocking, I needed to bring in a third color.  I chose Basic Gray so that it would stay a bit more neutral.
