October Virtual Stamp Club

With the start of October, we are firmly into fall, and my focus begins to shift towards Christmas.  This month in my virtual stamp club, three of the four cards we will be making are Christmas cards, including the pinwheel tower card. But while Christmas is definitely the main theme, we don't want to forget about the fall.  This card with the Stitched Leaves dies is simple but beautiful, and just by changing the sentiment you can easily customize it for any occasion.

September 2021 Paper Pumpkin: Haunts and Harvest Alternates

For this week's alternate Paper Pumpkin samples, I would typically try to only use the supplies that come in the Paper Pumpkin kit.  This kit, however, made 3-D items, and I wanted my alternate samples to be cards.  I, therefore, allows for the use of additional card stock.  All the other materials came from the kit.

In today's Minute to Make It video, I show you how I created this card using the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper:

 

It is no secret that Stampin' Up has some of the most beautiful papers on the market.  Sometimes, though, some of the papers are so beautiful that they can make a card all in themselves.  The Peaceful Place DSP is one of those papers.  I just love the simplicity of this card.  I could have layered the designer series paper, but I really wanted the edge to edge look that I would get by making the DSP be the full card front.  All that was required was a simple sentiment and some rhinestones to create this easy look.  It almost would have have qualified as a #simplestamping card but for the fact I used dies to create the label for my sentiment.

It's not often that I create a card and I don't use stamps, and therefore ink, but this is one of them.  I wanted to create a card that used the Christmas Tree dies and I saw a card somewhere else that used the Scalloped Labels and then layered designer series paper on to it.  As this card was coming together, I took a look at it, and I just couldn't see where I might add a sentiment that wouldn't detract from the card.   Sometimes, the images just speak for themselves.

Fun fold cards are always interesting and fun to create, aren't they?  I had a friend show me this design, and I've done several of them since.  What I really like about this design is that you start with a basic half sheet of card stock and then with some simple scoring, you are able to really change the look.  I created this as a Christmas card, and while I probably wouldn't do 50 of them, it is simple enough that I could see myself doing 12 or 15 to send to particularly special people on my list.

It is #SimpleStamping Friday!  Simple Stamping cards are cards that focus on the very basics: stamps, ink and paper.  Without any one of those components, you don't have a card.  My goal with Simple Stamping is to show you that even though a card only focuses on those three basic components it can still be beautiful.

Today's #SimpleStamping card feature the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set.  For this card, I chose to focus on layering and Stampin' Dimensionals to give the card some added interest.  I used the water painters to color the images by pulling ink from the lids of the ink pads.  I've got another niece's birthday coming up, and this will probably be used as a card for her.

September 2021 Paper Pumpkin: Haunts and Harvest

Can I just say that I absolutely love this month's Paper Pumpkin.  The little treat holders are adorable, but the fact that you can turn the shipping box into a wheelbarrow is just the crowning jewel.  I had a lot of fun putting this one together and it is currently decorating my dining room table.

This is a card that I created for one of my niece's who recently celebrated her eighth birthday.  What is really fun about this card is that I created a birthday card using what might traditionally be viewed as a winter/Christmas set.  The designer series paper on this card is part of the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper which is a Saleabration option.  Again, when you first look at this paper, you may focus on the fact that one side is mostly winter themed.  However, if you look at the back sides, they are all very versatile designs that may be used for cards that are not Christmas themed.

Today's Learn to Stamp video is less of instructional video and more of a reminder of how great a technique embossing on vellum really is.  The texture that you can get on vellum when you emboss it is really cool.  It actually turns the vellum white and I love that effect when used with the Wintry embossing folder.
