Today I have another card using the Easter Friends set.  I needed a baby card to go along with a gift and I thought this little bunny would be perfect.  I borrowed a sentiment from a retired stamp set which worked perfectly.  I had so much fun putting this card together with all the little feminine touches.  One thing I really liked was my banner.  I used my fingers to give it a little curl and then I used three Stampin' Dimensionals on the left side to help lift it up.  I'm really pleased with how it came out.

Easter Fun Fold Card

Materials:
    Stamps: Easter Friends
    Ink: Cinnamon Cider and Soft Suede
    Card Stock:
        So Saffron - 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and 7/8" x 3 1/8" (2)
        Cinnamon Cider - 2" x 2 5/8" (2), 7/8" x 2" (2), 2" x 3 3/8"
        Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper - 1 7/8" x 2 1/2" (2), 3/4" x 1 7/8" (2), 1 7/8" x 3 1/4", and 3/4" x 3"
        Basic White - 3 /4" x 3", 1 7/8" x 3 1/4" and 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Isn't this Easter fun fold card just the cutest?  I made this recently with a friend of mine, and I thought it was just so much fun.   What's really great, is that this card folds flat and fits into a standard sized envelope.  It actually isn't as hard as it looks, although explaining it might be a trick.  Let me start with a template that I drew to show you how to cut and score the base which is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" (a standard 1/4 sheet of card stock)

You are going to start by scoring the card stock in half along the short edge at 2 1/8".  On the top half, you want to cut from the edge to the score line at 2 3/4", which is the middle.  On the bottom half you want to cut from the edge to the score line 1" in from either side.  The next step is to fold the right half of the top portion under so it is on the bottom.  Then fold the right 1" section up so it is part of the top.  This will make the large middle section on the bottom half stand up right.  

You will then use the 7/8" strips of So Saffron to hold the left and right sections together on both the top and the bottom.  In my sample above, this is the strip on which I stamped "Happy Easter".  There is one just like it on the upper section, but it has designer series paper on it.  You can just barely see the right edge of it.  Like I said, it sounds more complicated than it really is.  Give it a try and if you have a hard time, doesn't hesitate to contact me and I'll see if I can describe it differently for you.

Today's #SimpleStamping Friday card is about as simple as they come! I only used three pieces of paper, two colors of ink and one stamp set.  If you haven't gotten the New Horizons Designer Series Paper yet, then you are missing out! I've had the Butterflies & Flowers Decorative Masks since my preorder back in December, but I really haven't taken the time to play with them.  Last week I pulled them out, and I created this card.  I've seen other designs that were similar and I thought it was a good place to start.  To create this card, I first used the basic butterfly shape and I applied Crushed Curry ink with a Blending Brush.  Next, leaving the butterfly mask in place, I layered the floral mask on top and added Blackberry Bliss.  With the butterfly mask still in place, I was able to get the flower design to be inside just the butterflies.  It's actually quite easy and makes for a beautiful background.  Unfortunately, these masks are not available to order right now, but they should be back in stock at the beginning of April.

Easter is a really important holiday in our family, but despite that I don't actually send Easter cards.  For that reason, I typically don't buy the Easter stamp sets because I just don't have much use for them. Tomorrow is the day that we change the clocks and we spring ahead an hour into Daylight Savings time.  To me, that always feels like the first tangible expression that spring is coming and the winter will finally be over.  In honor of Daylight Savings Time, for today's #SimpleStamping Friday card, I chose a set that actually looks even a little further into summer.  The Dragonfly Garden set has these big beautiful dragonflies--perfect to use as a focal point on a card.  The flowers stamped on the side add a nice little bit of texture without drawing attention away from the dragonfly.
