Candy canes are a classic Christmas image, and I'm having fun with the Sweet Candy Canes bundle.  This card has lots of layers, but they are fairly straightforward.  I used some of the glimmer paper to give the card a bit of extra shimmer and shine.  What images do you like on your Christmas cards?

I definitely lean towards the nature stamps, and the Perched in a Tree set if one of my new favorites.  It is designed as a Christmas set, but, really, it as a fantastic all-season set.  You can see some of the other cards I've done with it here and here.  One thing I really like on this card is all the different textures that are going on between the die cut leaves, the embossed leaves in the background and even the stitching on the label.  It makes for an interesting design that is pleasing to the eye.

I've got another easy Christmas card for you today for #SimpleStamping Friday.  This card features the Decorated with Happiness set.  I used the large pine bough image as a tree.  It reminds me of a description that is often given to trees that are rather scraggly that was taken from a popular animated Christmas show that originated more than 50 years ago (the initials of the main character are CB, hint, hint). Anyway, It's a simple card but I think it's a rather fun use for the pine bough.

August 2022 Paper Pumpkin: Sweet Sunflowers

The name of the August Paper Pumpkin kit is Sweet Sunflowers, and these cards are sweet indeed.  Featuring beautiful watercolor backgrounds and floral imagery, these cards are sure to brighten the day of any recipient.  As designed, the cards are geared towards friendship, but I think they would make a fantastic card for somebody who is ill or needs some cheering up.  I'm excited to sit down with the kit and see what else I can create!

I love Christmas cards that are with quintessential images and classic colors.  Today's card scratches that itch for me.  I used the Leaves of Holly Bundle with Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz and Cherry Cobbler.  Can't get much more classic than that!  One hint. I love the label die with the holly leaves cut out, but there isn't a companion die for filling in the background.  I cut a scrap of card stock to adhere underneath and then just trimmed off any excess that was sticking out.

Today's card is a fun fold card that we did in my card class last month.  I first saw the design on Mary Knabe's blog and thought it looked fun.  What I really like is that it still uses a half sheet of card stock.  It is just in the way that it is cut, scored and folded that you get the design.  Here is a diagram that I created for my class handout.

I started by placing the card stock in my trimmer with the the short side along the ruler.  I cut 1 1/4" in from both sides from the 1" mark to the 5 1/4" mark.  I then turned the card stock at 1", 2" and 5 1/4" from the outside edges up to the cut line.  Finally I scored between the cut lines at 4 1/4".  When you fold it, the 1" score lines become a mountain fold, the 2" score lines are a valley fold, and both the 4 1/4" and 5 1/4" score lines are mountain folds.

This card features the Wonderful World stamp set and coordinating designer series paper which is a Saleabration option available for free with a $100 purchase.

Last month my grandmother celebrated her 90th birthday, and, over the weekend, the whole family gathered to celebrate.  There were almost fifty and we haven't been all together since before Covid.  It was so nice to gather and celebrate the life my grandmother has lived.  Although she's started to slow down a bit over the last couple of years, I can only hope to have half her energy if I'm blessed enough to live to be her age!

I needed a card that was as special as she is, and I chose the Splendid Thoughts suite.  I love the shimmer in the designer series paper and the stamps and dies allow for a card that gives a rather artsy feel without being overly complicated.
