Today we are celebrating my nephew's ninth birthday.  For his card, I chose to use the Let's Set Sail set.  I've had this set for a little bit, and it was nice to finally get a chance to play with it.  The card has a bit of an older feel to it, but I think he will like it.

I created this card after I saw something similar somewhere online, although I neglected to make myself a note and now I can't remember.  At any rate, I thought it made fun use of the hexagon shapes from the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  These dies are in the January-June catalog, but I was excited to see that they will be carrying over into the annual catalog.  The Stitched Stars Dies, however, are retiring on May 2.

The new catalog goes live on May 3.  In the meantime, there are still lots of great products that are retiring. White Pencil In the Moment Card

Today's card is fun way to showcase an image that might otherwise require more detailed coloring.  Start by embossing the image on dark card stock.  Next you color in the parts you would like using a white watercolor pencil.  You could play with this technique and use a variety of dark paper/ light colored pencils for a whole different set of looks.

I've had this card in the pile to share with you since last November.  It was one of the make and takes from the OnStage at Home event I attended.  I can't remember if I did it exactly as it was designed or if I changed it up a little.  One component I really liked was how they cut the designer series paper to completely cover the front of the card.  I really like that effect, but it isn't one that I go back to very often.

It is #SimpleStamping Friday!  Simple Stamping cards are cards that focus on the very basics: stamps, ink and paper.  Without any one of those components, you don't have a card.  My goal with Simple Stamping is to show you that even though a card only focuses on those three basic components it can still be beautiful.

Today's #SimpleStamping card feature the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set.  For this card, I chose to focus on layering and Stampin' Dimensionals to give the card some added interest.  I used the water painters to color the images by pulling ink from the lids of the ink pads.  I've got another niece's birthday coming up, and this will probably be used as a card for her.
