In today's Minute to Make It video, I show you how I created this card using the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper:

 

It is no secret that Stampin' Up has some of the most beautiful papers on the market.  Sometimes, though, some of the papers are so beautiful that they can make a card all in themselves.  The Peaceful Place DSP is one of those papers.  I just love the simplicity of this card.  I could have layered the designer series paper, but I really wanted the edge to edge look that I would get by making the DSP be the full card front.  All that was required was a simple sentiment and some rhinestones to create this easy look.  It almost would have have qualified as a #simplestamping card but for the fact I used dies to create the label for my sentiment.

This is a card that I created for one of my niece's who recently celebrated her eighth birthday.  What is really fun about this card is that I created a birthday card using what might traditionally be viewed as a winter/Christmas set.  The designer series paper on this card is part of the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper which is a Saleabration option.  Again, when you first look at this paper, you may focus on the fact that one side is mostly winter themed.  However, if you look at the back sides, they are all very versatile designs that may be used for cards that are not Christmas themed.

I saw a card very similar to this over the summer when I was at my friend's house stamping.  I was immediately struck by the simplicity of the card and I just had to create one with current supplies.  I really like how the design relies on the embossing folder and the designer series paper to carry it and less on the stamping.  Of course, a good monochromatic card is always a favorite. This would be a super easy design to recreate simply by changing the designer series paper and the colors.

In today's Learn to Stamp video, I'm showing you how I stamped with my Soft Pastels:

 

There are so many different ways that you can use the Soft Pastels.  Recently, Stampin' Up shared on Instagram a way that you can stamp with them, and I was intrigued.  I gave it a try, and it really isn't that hard.  I tried it on Thick Basic White, Shimmery White and the Watercolor Paper and I thought all of them came out equally nice.  The other thing I did different was that the original instructions said to spritz the stamp again after you add the pastels, but I found it wasn't necessary and actually made the stamp more wet than I liked.  I would encourage you to give this one a try.

In this Learn to Stamp video, I show you how to create a watercolor background using the Watercolor Pencils:

 

I don't know about you, but I always love when I find a new way to create a background! Today's background is super easy and has lots of possibilities.  Using the Watercolor Pencils, color strips of color on to a piece of Watercolor paper and then blend using the Water Painters.  I do recommend that you use Watercolor paper for this technique as your paper will get fairly wet.  The watercolor paper also helps the colors to blend a bit better since the water doesn't absorb into the paper before it can spread the color.  Finally, I have several retiring products on this card, including the Rooted in Nature set and coordinating dies, the Stitched Shape Framelits and the Braided Linen Trim.

Learn to Stamp: Blended Ombre Background

Ombre is all the rage right now, and it is super easy to create your own backgrounds using nothing more than the Blending Brushes and ink.  Start with a piece of Whisper White card stock and add your colors working lightest to darkest.  I chose to keep this card fairly simple, but you could stamp an allover to background to create a custom background paper.  The sky is the limit!

It's an unfortunate truth that we can always use sympathy cards.  I try to have a few sympathy cards on hand ready to go so that I can send them at a moment's notice.  There is very little stamping on this card, and, instead, the die cuts take center stage.  I chose to have coordinating colors for my butterflies, but you could certainly do some highly contrasted colors as well.  At that point, you could turn the card into a birthday, congratulations or thinking of you card instead.

In today's Minute to Make It video, I'm showing you how to create this fun card using the Dragonfly Garden bundle:

 

Dragonflies have a translucent and iridescent quality about them, so when I set out to the make this card, I immediately thought about using vellum for the dragonfly.  The dragonfly was stamped in Memento Black ink and then colored on the back using Stampin' Write markers.  You really do need to use the Stampin' Write markers rather than the Blends, because the Blends end up obscuring the image.  Another tip is to make sure that your Memento ink has fully dried before you flip it over to color.  You can either set it aside to dry or use your heat tool to speed up the process.
